Music for Christmas

During his tenure as organist of Waltham Abbey, W.H.Cummings set one of Charles Wesley’s hymns to some music by Mendelssohn which went on to become one of the most popular carols of all time. ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’ was first performed in Waltham Abbey Christmas 1852 and provides a fitting conclusion to this CD.
